Episode 10 – Power Off

A massive whiteout surges from the edge of the world. Mountains, buildings, and screaming people evaporate into dust made of zeros and ones the moment the white light touches them. Like a bored player deleting a game, God has begun formatting the server called Earth. 1. The 0.01% Survival Zone Jinwoo, Mina, and the last survivors of the Dead Zone barely maintain their forms inside a tiny circular space, protected by the Absolute Preservation Code Mina brought from the Backup Sector. But even that protective barrier is being stripped away by God’s deletion command. “Jinwoo, we’re out of time. Ninety percent of the world has already been erased.” Mina’s body begins to blur and pixelate again. With trembling hands, Jinwoo takes out his final device. Attacking God’s internal server no longer matters. The server itself is disappearing. 2. Reverse Streaming In that hopeless moment, Jinwoo arrives at a brilliant reversal. If there is a channel through which God watches us, then there must also be a path through which we can watch God. “We are no longer the ones being observed. We’re going straight into that bastard’s power switch.” Using the data of humanity’s suffering stored inside Mina’s body as fuel, Jinwoo converts their consciousness into data and sends it through the broadcast signal. It is a reckless attempt, like an ant crawling through a television screen into the viewer’s living room. 3. Standing in God’s Living Room After a blast of intense noise, Jinwoo’s consciousness awakens. He is not in a cold server room. He is not above the clouds. He is inside an endless, enormous theater. At the center sits a massive, shapeless cluster of light on a luxurious sofa. In front of it float trillions of screens. One of those screens is Earth. It now displays the words: SIGNAL LOST Jinwoo screams at the glowing mass — at God. “Was it fun? Was it really that entertaining to play with our lives?” 4. God’s Answer: Another Channel Without even turning His head, God points at the trillions of other screens and answers in a dry voice. “You were only one channel among countless others. If it becomes boring, I turn it off and watch something else. Even the fact that you reached this place is no more than a brief special episode to me.” God extends a finger toward the [PERMANENT DELETE] button on the Earth Channel. At that moment, Jinwoo runs his final malicious code. It is not a code designed to kill God. It is a code that exposes God’s viewing history to the entire universe. 5. Ending: The Truth Behind the Black Screen When Jinwoo’s code executes, the walls of God’s theater collapse. Beyond them, even greater spectators are revealed. The being Jinwoo believed to be God was, in fact, only a content producer being evaluated by higher beings. The “God in charge of Earth,” caught by his superiors for a failed production, freezes in panic. Jinwoo seizes the opportunity and accesses God’s authority system. He enters the command: [REBOOT: EARTH] The screen goes black. After a moment, through static, the familiar noise of the Gangnam Station intersection returns. Jinwoo opens his eyes. Everything appears to have returned to normal. But beside the sun high in the sky, there is a tiny subtitle that was never there before. [Season 2 Begins: Producer Replaced. New Rules Applied.] Beside him, Mina whispers: “Jinwoo… did you just see that? The sky said, ‘Thank you for watching.’” Jinwoo looks up at the sky and smiles coldly. Thus ends Part One: Awakening.
