By using Novelhaus, you agree to these terms. Please read them before creating an account or submitting content.
Novelhaus is free to join, free to read, and free to write. This version removes every ownership percentage, revenue split, commission, and payout provision from earlier terms. Nobody is allocated a share of anyone's copyright, and no money moves through the platform. Contributors keep their own work and receive attribution.
By accessing or using Novelhaus ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), the Content Policy, the Contributor Terms, and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
The Content Policy and Contributor Terms are part of this agreement. Where one of those documents covers a subject in more detail, it controls for that subject.
Novelhaus is an open platform for collaborative and independent fiction, operated by SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc., a Delaware corporation. Members post story seeds ("Pitches"), rate each other's work, write episodes, complete manuscripts, and read finished novels. AI tools help organize and structure contributions; people supply the original ideas, the creative judgment, the revisions, and the final approval.
Novelhaus operates as a non-commercial creative community. It is not a publisher, not a literary agent, not a marketplace, and not an employer. We do not sell books, do not run advertising against your work, and do not act as your representative in any commercial matter.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit content. By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement. Anyone may browse publicly available pages without an account.
Novelhaus hosts long-form fiction written by adults. Although the Content Policy prohibits sexual and gratuitously violent material, fiction written by strangers is not suitable for children, and we do not offer accounts to minors.
Every signed-in member can both read and write. Reading published novels, posting pitches, rating pitches, writing episodes, and using the Single Writer workspace are all available to any member in good standing at no charge. There is no paid tier, no subscription, no per-work fee, and no premium feature.
Any future paid feature, publishing arrangement, or licensing deal would require a separate written agreement that you choose to sign at that time. It would apply only going forward, and only to work you specifically opt in. It would not reach back to anything you contributed under these Terms, and it would never convert past contributions into a claim on your copyright. Work already published on Novelhaus stays free to read.
You keep 100% of the copyright in what you write. This applies to pitches, episodes, comments, complete manuscripts, and cover art you upload. Novelhaus claims no ownership interest in any of it.
A collaborative novel is built from contributions by several people. The rules are simple and they do not involve percentages:
Single Writer projects are simpler: the manuscript is yours alone, you keep full ownership and control, and Novelhaus only hosts and displays it.
Previous versions of these Terms and of the Author Terms described a 52% / 12% / 36% allocation of copyright and revenue among Novelhaus, pitch authors, and episode writers, distribution through Stripe Connect, and a 70/30 e-book split for Single Writer works.
Those provisions are terminated. SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc. releases and waives any copyright ownership percentage, administration authority, commission, and revenue claim it held or could have claimed in any work contributed to Novelhaus, whether contributed before or after the effective date above. Contributors likewise hold no ownership percentage in one another's contributions; each person simply keeps their own work.
No money was collected and no payouts were owed under the earlier structure, so no settlement is required. Payment processing has been removed from the Platform, and no tax reporting arises from participation. If you believe you are affected differently, write to us at the address in section 16 and we will resolve it in writing.
Novelhaus uses AI tools to organize contributions, propose structure, assemble drafts, edit language, and translate. AI assists people; it does not replace them. A human author or editor reviews and approves a manuscript before it is published.
AI output can contain errors, invented facts, bias, and unintended similarity to existing material. You are responsible for reviewing anything produced with AI help before you submit or approve it. Copyright protection for AI-assisted work depends on how much human authorship it contains, and we make no promise about it. Where disclosure of AI assistance is required by law or by a distributor, it must be given.
Novelhaus is open to any signed-in member, which only works if the shared space stays safe to read. The full rules are in the Content Policy, and they are binding. In summary, the following may not be posted anywhere on Novelhaus, including inside fiction:
Serious literature has always gone to dark places, and that is not what these rules are aimed at. The line is between a story that examines harm and a story that serves it. The Content Policy gives worked examples of both.
Novelhaus is operated by one person. Automated screening runs on every submission and the operator reviews what it flags. We may remove content, require an edit, unpublish a work, limit posting ability, or suspend or close an account when the Content Policy is violated. New members' first public submissions are held until they have been read; a screening flag alone is never treated as a final decision.
Every published page carries a report control. Reports involving minors, threats, or private information are handled the same day they are seen; other reports are worked through in order.
Except for material that must come down immediately, we will tell you which rule was applied and give you an opportunity to respond. Write to the contact address in section 16 to appeal; expect a reply within about a week. Copyright complaints are handled under our Copyright / DMCA Policy.
You may delete your account at any time via Account Settings. Your unpublished drafts are deleted with it. Your published pitches, episodes, and novels are handled as described in section 7 and in the Contributor Terms: solo work comes down on request; a contribution already woven into a collaborative work stays published, with your credit removed or replaced by a pseudonym if you ask.
We may suspend or close an account for repeated or serious violations of these Terms or the Content Policy. Sections that should outlive the account — the licenses needed to keep already published collaborative works online, the warranty and liability sections, indemnification, and the dispute section — survive termination.
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc. disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and accuracy. We do not promise that your work will be read, rated, selected, completed, or published, or that the service will always be online. Keep your own backup of anything you would be upset to lose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, opportunities, data, or goodwill, arising from the Platform, user content, or AI-assisted output. Because Novelhaus is free, our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform shall not exceed US $100. This limit does not apply where the law does not permit it.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc. against third-party claims and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your breach of these Terms or the Content Policy, your violation of law, or your infringement of another person's rights.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where the non-waivable law of your place of residence applies.
Arbitration. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved by individual, binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules where those apply. Hearings may be held virtually. Where arbitration applies, claims must be brought individually rather than as a class or representative action, and both parties waive a jury trial.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an eligible claim in small-claims court, and either may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property, account security, or confidential information.
Opt out. Email hausnovel@gmail.com within 30 days of accepting these Terms, naming your account email, to opt out of arbitration. Opting out affects nothing else in these Terms.
We may update these Terms as the Platform develops. Material changes will be announced by email and on-platform notice at least 30 days before taking effect, including any change affecting your rights in your own contributions.
Two commitments do not change without your explicit, separate written consent: you keep the copyright in what you write, and contributing never creates an ownership or revenue claim against you.
