Novelhaus is an open, non-commercial story-creation platform centered on human imagination, voluntary creative collaboration, attribution, and responsible use of AI. This page covers contributor rights, copyright complaints, and the patent position.
Novelhaus is free to join, free to read, and free to write. The platform does not offer e-book sales, ownership percentages, royalties, commissions, or creator payouts, and it does not process payments. Completed works are made available for member reading and community response.
Payment and payout functionality has been removed from the platform. Any unused columns that remain in the database from the earlier commercial design are inactive, carry no entitlement, and are not part of any claim by or against anyone.
Open Novel participation is voluntary. Contributors receive attribution for their accepted contributions. Attribution is not an ownership percentage, royalty entitlement, equity interest, or promise of payment — and no such percentage is created for Novelhaus either.
Contributors keep the copyright in their original human-created contribution while granting Novelhaus and the other credited contributors the non-exclusive, royalty-free permissions reasonably needed to host, combine, edit, format, translate, display, publish, and archive that contribution as part of the collaborative work, as described in the Contributor Terms.
Contributors remain free to publish their own writing anywhere else at any time, without permission from Novelhaus and without owing Novelhaus anything.
If a completed collaborative work ever creates a genuine publishing, adaptation, or licensing opportunity, it would require a separate written agreement signed by every credited contributor. Novelhaus holds no default share in such an arrangement and cannot enter one on a contributor's behalf. Ordinary participation creates no commercial obligation in either direction.
Solo Novel authors keep 100% of the copyright and independent control of their manuscripts. Novelhaus receives only the service, display, processing, and archive permissions described in the Contributor Terms. Solo Novel publication is non-commercial and is intended for reading and community star ratings. There is no commission and no revenue split.
Novelhaus is open to every signed-in member, which is only workable if the shared space stays readable. The Content Policy is binding and prohibits sexual content, gratuitous violence, harassment, doxxing, hate speech, plagiarism, and rating manipulation. Any sexual material involving a minor results in immediate account removal and reporting to the authorities where the law requires it.
Content complaints, impersonation, fraud, and abuse reports may lead to review, restriction, or removal independently of community scores.
Novelhaus respects third-party rights and responds to properly submitted copyright notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Users may not submit material they do not have the right to use.
To report material you believe infringes your copyright, send the designated agent a written notice that includes all of the following:
Incomplete notices may delay our response. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a takedown notice can result in liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. §512(f).
If your material was removed and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent including: your signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and telephone number; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal district court for your district, or for the District of Delaware if you are outside the United States, together with your consent to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.
Novelhaus has adopted and reasonably implements a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of members who are repeat copyright infringers. Accounts that accumulate multiple valid, uncontested takedown notices will be closed.
Patent scope, ownership, validity, and enforceability are determined by the applicable official patent records and law.
Novelhaus intends its patents to support open development rather than become barriers to useful experimentation. Individuals, researchers, universities, developers, startups, and established companies are welcome to contact Novelhaus about studying, testing, integrating, or jointly developing Novelhaus-related technologies.
Patent ownership is retained to help protect the openness and continuity of the ecosystem, not to prevent research.
SAMCHEONGHAUS Inc. will not assert US Patent No. 11,935,518 B2 or KR Patent No. 10-2622940 against non-commercial research, academic study, teaching, coursework, thesis work, or non-commercial prototypes and demonstrations that do not generate revenue. This applies while the party acts in good faith, does not assert its own patents against Novelhaus over the same subject matter, and does not claim endorsement by or affiliation with Novelhaus.
This statement covers non-commercial research and teaching only. It is not a license for commercial products or services, and it does not transfer, waive, or exhaust any other right. Commercial use, integration into a paid product, joint development, and any arrangement needing legal certainty should be settled in a separate written agreement — get in touch and we will discuss it.
Novelhaus treats AI as an assisting technology, not as a substitute for human creative agency. Human users originate, select, review, revise, and approve creative work before it becomes part of the platform's published story record. Private and unpublished submissions are not used to train general-purpose AI models; see the Privacy Policy §5.
Pitch and Episode ratings support the creative workflow. Completed collaborative novels and Solo Novels may also receive 1–5 star member ratings. Ratings are community feedback and do not create ownership, payment, or contractual rights.
These pages describe the current non-commercial platform. Before any commercial publishing, film or game adaptation, patent licensing, or other rights transaction, Novelhaus will use a separate work-specific agreement and obtain appropriate professional legal review.
