General Terms for Novelhaus (for Basic Members)

Note: These Terms apply to basic membership primarily for viewing and evaluation. Creative participation, IP ownership, publishing, and revenue sharing are governed by separate Author Terms (author_terms) upon Author upgrade.

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) set forth the conditions, rights, obligations, and responsibilities for using Novelhaus (the “Platform”), operated by Immersekool (the “Company”).

Article 2 (Definitions)

  • Platform: The web/mobile service “Novelhaus” operated by the Company
  • User (Member): A person who registers and primarily uses viewing/evaluation features
  • Content: Any materials submitted or posted by users, including ratings, comments, and feedback
  • Feedback: Ratings, comments, reviews, suggestions, and reports submitted by users

Article 3 (Effect & Changes)

  • These Terms become effective when you agree during the sign-up process.
  • The Company may amend these Terms in compliance with applicable laws and will provide notice via the Platform.
  • Amended Terms become effective on the announced effective date.

Article 4 (Accounts)

  • You must provide accurate information and are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.
  • You may not transfer, lend, or share your account with others.
  • The Company may restrict access for security or operational reasons, including violations of these Terms.
  • The Company may manage accounts as Active or Nonactive under its operational policies. When an account is set to Nonactive, login and access to services may be restricted. Depending on the reason (user deletion request, policy violations, security risks, etc.), restoration may be limited.
  • The Company may take measures such as removing or restricting content, limiting evaluation features, temporarily suspending accounts, or setting accounts to Nonactive status, in cases of violations of these Terms or operational policies.

Article 5 (Services)

  • The Platform supports community-based activities, and basic members primarily use viewing and evaluation features.
  • The Company may update features, UI, and policies to improve service quality and security.
  • If paid features are introduced, related conditions will be separately announced.

Article 6 (Feedback & Intellectual Property)

  • Copyright in user-created Feedback generally belongs to the creator.
  • By posting Feedback on the Platform, you grant the Company a non-exclusive license to store, display, transmit, and manage such Feedback as necessary to operate the Platform, improve quality, and respond to disputes (e.g., reports and logs).
  • Feedback is provided for service operation purposes and does not create any ownership, equity, or revenue-sharing rights in any literary work on the Platform.
  • Creative participation, IP ownership, publishing/licensing, and revenue-sharing matters are governed by separate Author Terms (author_terms) after you upgrade to Author.
  • You must not submit Content that infringes others’ rights (copyright, trademark, publicity, etc.).

Article 7 (Prohibited Conduct)

  • Illegal content, infringement, defamation, hate/discrimination, or violation of public order
  • Manipulating evaluation systems, abusive automation/bots
  • Interference with service operation (hacking attempts, excessive traffic, etc.)
  • Repeated and intentional conduct that violates public order and morals, including excessive sexual or obscene descriptions, hate or discriminatory content, harassment, defamation, intimidation, or verbal abuse (insults, threats, sexual harassment) toward other users or authors, or any content that infringes upon personal rights or reputation.

Article 8 (Suspension/Changes)

  • The Company may temporarily suspend all or part of the service for maintenance, incidents, security issues, or legal compliance.
  • When reasonably possible, notice will be provided in advance; emergencies may be notified afterward.
  • Where appropriate, the Company may provide users with an opportunity to submit an appeal or explanation.

Article 9 (Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability)

  • The Company does not guarantee the accuracy, legality, or completeness of user-submitted Content (including Feedback).
  • The Company is not liable for damages caused by a user’s fault (e.g., poor credential management, password sharing, or violations of these Terms).
  • The Platform may use open-source software (frameworks/libraries) and third-party services (hosting, CDN, network providers, authentication, analytics, etc.). The Company does not warrant defects, vulnerabilities, or outages inherent in such software/services, except as required by applicable law.
  • Even if the Company implements reasonable security measures, the Company is not liable for service interruption, data damage, or data leakage caused by hacking, malware, unauthorized third-party access, or network/system failures, unless such damage results from the Company’s willful misconduct or gross negligence.
  • The Company is not liable for force majeure events (natural disasters, war, government restrictions, carrier failures, etc.).
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages (including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of expected benefits).
  • (If paid services apply) Where liability is recognized, the Company’s total liability is limited to the total amount of fees actually paid by the user to the Company during the three (3) months immediately preceding the event.

Article 10 (Governing Law)

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  • In case of litigation, the competent court at the Company’s principal place of business shall have jurisdiction.
